LORISSA PETERS
YOGA INTRUCTOR
Movement has shaped Lorissa’s life from an early age. Beginning gymnastics and dance at three, she trained intensively for years, competing at university level. Through this journey, she experienced the powerful connection between movement, mental health and overall well-being. After years of pushing her body through high-intensity exercise, she felt called toward a slower, more restorative approach. Finding yoga in 2013 became a pivotal shift—one that continues to guide her path today.
Originally from Maine, Lorissa’s path to teaching has been anything but linear. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Hydrology, working in a civil engineering firm before becoming a mother and shifting her focus toward wellness. Her interest in nutrition began when she adopted a plant-based diet and went on to certify as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2018, later earning Reiki Level I and II certifications in 2021 and completing a 50-hour yoga teacher refresher in 2024.
Her teaching style is gentle, inclusive, and grounded in the belief that consistency matters more than perfection. With an emphasis on vagus nerve stimulation, the parasympathetic nervous system and stress relief, her classes are designed to help students feel calm, focused, connected and at ease in their bodies. She believes deeply in the ripple effect of yoga—what is practiced on the mat naturally carries into daily life, supporting healthier relationships, improved resilience and greater balance.
When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, walking the Railway Trail, being near to or on the water, paddle boarding, cooking wholefood, plant-based meals, reading, traveling, and returning to Maine to relax by the lake with loved ones.
