Integrative Oncology Programme

A twice-monthly support group guiding you through holistic strategies designed to nourish and empower you during or after your cancer diagnosis. Join us for group counselling, nutrition strategies, movement, meditation & reflexology. Attend some or all sessions. Open to anyone who has had or is going through cancer in Bermuda, free of charge. Caregivers welcome too!

This programme is organised by PALS, overseen by Dr. Alikhani. Facilitators include:

Beat the Couch - Season 22 BEGINS Feb 29th 2024 - REGISTER NOW!

“Today I feel like a different person, I have achieved something I never thought I would and I have a new outlook on what I can achieve if I have the support and the determination.”

Beat the Couch is a realistic, rewarding and achievable running program for those who are new or nearly-new to running. We can get almost anyone off the couch and 5K fit in just 10 weeks! 

In May 2013, 47 beginner or “lapsed” runners achieved their 5K target and had an amazing time doing it. That was 92% of our original intake – a really rewarding statistic for everyone! Since then, over 1180 participants have beaten the couch… and you can too.

Beat the Couch is based on the classic “Couch to 5K” concept – but offers the extra support of a group environment with expert trainers who will monitor your progress in person and guide your technique. In addition, our Nutritional Therapist Catherine Burns will show you how to make dietary choices that optimize your energy, mood, performance and recovery. You also have the opportunity to track your weight, percentage body fat and inch-loss at fortnightly intervals.

Training involves just three 45 minute training sessions a week (from a flexible choice of 10). Our end goal is for you to take part in our official 5K race day. Not only that, but you will have the chance to Beat the Couch, literally. Our couch-on-wheels is pushed around the route by some of Bermuda's running elite, and the challenge is to beat them to the finish line!

If you have limited free time or frequently travel, don’t worry. We have training options every single day and podcast training that you can use as a back-up. Many of our participants have trained with us twice a week and independently once a week. Ultimately this is an extremely flexible program.

KIDS! 10 free places for 12-17 year olds, when accompanied by a fee-paying adult. Please email Catherine to confirm we have space before you add the child to your registration form: catherine@waterfrontwellness.bm

Nutrifit is a science-led, evidence-based protocol that’s less of a diet and more of a lifestyle!  The focus is on clean-eating and real, whole food. Although this is a group program, it’s incredibly flexible in essence – suitable for people of all ages, with any kind of health history, list of allergies or food preferences (vegan, vegetarian, paleo for example.)

Nutrifit will help you lose weight (if you need to), improve your body composition, boost your energy and re-think lifestyle factors that have been standing in your way of success. It’s a great opportunity to learn how nutrition really works so you can make informed choices that impact how well you feel every single day. We’ll teach you our signature preventive health care strategies for balancing blood sugar and improving digestion, as well as giving you all the essential info on antioxidants, detox, the right kind of fats and choosing organics that work within your budget. To make sure that you have a truly holistic overhaul, we also dedicate a week to stress and sleep too.

Nutrifit began in 2008 when Catherine wrote the course as a one-off for a group of clients who all wanted to know one thing – how they could manage their weight in a healthy and sustainable way. By the time the first course was finished, the next one was fully booked and it snowballed from there. Every year the content is reviewed and updated so you can be sure that you’re receiving completely current guidelines within the best practices of Nutritional Therapy. After more than a decade of excellent results, Nutrifit is covered by most Argus, BF&M and CG Insurance health insurance policies. 

The program is regularly scheduled through the year for those who want to participate independently. It’s also frequently taught onsite for workplace wellness programs.

There is no charge for participating in this program. It's a gift from us to you!

At Waterfront Wellness, we believe that great nutrition can optimize your health in a powerful and meaningful way. As we kick off 2024, we’re offering everyone in our local community the support they need to get their nutrition on track with two weeks of healthy recipes and lifestyle tips. Many of the recipes are plant-based (you can add animal protein to several of them if you wish) and all are gluten/dairy free. Naturally, everything is Nutrifit-approved!

The kickstart doesn’t involve any formal classes, just email/whatsapp (optional) contact to keep people motivated through the two weeks. However, to get the most out of this opportunity, please join us for a one-off, introductory chat on Thursday 11th January at 6pm, in person at The Waterfront (door prizes!) or on Zoom. We have limited places in person. Once they are taken then the only option showing on the registration link will be Zoom. Thanks for your understanding! 

Kickstart dates: After the intro, we begin properly on Friday 12th January, ending 26th January, 2024.

Our popular after-school fitness classes (led by experienced trainers, Graham Frith and Christina Dotson) give teens the opportunity to improve their fitness, strength, coordination and agility - all while generating some feel good endorphins!

Workouts include: Blaze Pods, Spinning, Circuits, Kickboxing and Yoga for athletes. Suitable and adjusted for ALL fitness levels.

Classes take place at the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4.00- 5.00pm, for 4 weeks beginning Sept 19th.

$160 per person, or $210 with healthy snacks!

This six-week programme from PALS provides incredible support and practical guidelines for those going through or recovering from cancer. Are you in a vicious cycle with food and fitness? Let’s reset and change that vicious cycle. Jenna is offering a five week package where she will address your eating behaviours in a one-to-one consultation. Together, the goal is to better understand your relationship with food, learn the skills to improve it and over time you’ll see a positive shift in your eating behaviours. No more guilt, emotional or stress eating! Sound good? Add to that two Barre/Pilates classes per week and you’ll be on your way to understanding and improving your relationship with food and exercise. Ready to reset?

Jenna's bio:

Jenna is a Behavioural Nutritionist who also teaches Barre and Pilates in support of a more wholesome diet and mental-health relationship. She has a calm, confident and gentle demeanour that will put you at ease. She is happiest when she is able to help others and is genuinely so nice!

While completing her BSc in Psychology she started to develop an interest in nutrition as it related to eating behaviour. It only made sense for her to follow this path and she successfully completed her MSc in Nutrition and Behaviour. Following additional studies in nutrition, Jenna was still searching for ways in which to combine behaviour and dietary intake. Voila! behavioural Nutrition became her focus and she is currently completing the only certified course in the world. 

As a classically trained dancer with over 20 years experience (including training with The Royal Ballet in London) Jenna's Barre and Pilates classes have a unique approach. She aims to work with clients to establish better movement and healthy eating behaviours through her classes and consultations.

Food Positivity Cleanse

As we move into Spring, this two-week cleanse is designed to help you refocus on healthy living for 2021! There’s no list of what not to eat, just a list of healthy habits to incorporate into your day-to-day as well as 14 fantastic new recipes for you to try. The idea is that you finish feeling lighter and brighter, with a whole new set of dishes to build into your rotation. We find that if you focus on the good stuff, the bad stuff naturally falls away!

For those that would like to target fat-loss in their body composition, or those who are interested in reducing elevated biometric markers (such as high LDL or Triglycerides) we are also including an introduction to healthy fasting techniques.
